U.S. Army Secretary Resigns to Trump

Al-Taj News – Three sources told CNN on Tuesday that U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump.

One of the sources indicated that the decision was not surprising, given the state of tension that had characterized the relationship between Driscoll and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement: “Secretary Driscoll was highly effective in advancing President Trump’s agenda to make America strong again within the Department of the Army; he provided outstanding leadership during historic military operations, refocused efforts on readiness and lethality, and contributed to negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, among other tasks.”

CNN contacted the Department of Defense (the Pentagon) for comment.

Driscoll’s departure — a former Army soldier and longtime personal friend of Vice President J.D. Vance — comes after months of friction with Hegseth. The move also comes as the war on Iran continues into its sixth consecutive month, with no indications that it is nearing an end.

Earlier this year, Hegseth dismissed Army Chief of Staff General Randy George and two other generals, noting that George and Driscoll had worked closely together.

The Wall Street Journal was the first to report Driscoll’s departure from his position.
